Frequently Asked Questions

Most Ugandan children begin Primary 1 at age 6, after completing Nursery or Kindergarten. We admit learners from around age 5-6 depending on school readiness, and can assess a child individually if they are joining without prior early-childhood schooling.

Yes. The National Curriculum Development Centre (NCDC) rolled out a revised, thematic, competency-based curriculum for Primary 1 to 3, replacing the older subject-heavy approach. Lessons at this level focus on integrated themes and continuous, activity-based assessment rather than heavy formal examinations, and our teaching follows this framework.

No. In line with national policy for Lower Primary, we use continuous, play-based assessment to track each child's progress in literacy, numeracy, and life skills, rather than high-stakes exams. Formal UNEB examinations only begin at Primary 7 with the Primary Leaving Examination (PLE).

Families can choose full physical attendance at our campus, a fully guided online option, or a blend of both. For very young learners we generally recommend at least some physical or closely supervised sessions to support early social and literacy development.

Yes. We regularly welcome first-time learners into Lower Primary. Our teachers assess each new child informally in their first weeks and provide extra support where needed to help them settle into classroom routines and early literacy and numeracy.

In line with Uganda's language-of-instruction policy for the early primary years, we incorporate a local language alongside English to strengthen early reading and comprehension, while building learners steadily toward English as the main language of instruction from Primary 4.
